Dealing with Research Data | & | Artificial Intelligence and RI

The discussion hub on dealing with research data addresses central disputes and difficulties, which frequently lead to conflicts in academia. The hub’s goal is publish various resources such as discourse contributions, case studies or surveys, with a special focus on developing (realistic) guidelines. Covering frequent “data conflicts” as well specifics from different disciplines, these guidelines are supposed to complement and specify the standards for good research practice set out in the DFG Code of Conduct, equipping scientists and ombudspersons with tangible orientation to strengthen research integrity.

Working closely with experts, this project centres on:

  • defining research data as well as dealing with proprietary conflicts
  • fairness in regulating data use and accessibility
  • questions of data authorship
  • (ethical) questions concerning the mandatory publication of data

The discussion hub on artificial intelligence and research integrity was set up in summer 2023 to address the increasing demand for guidance in this matter. As a kick-off to dealing with AI from the perspective of research integrity the researchers of the discussion hubs convened an expert workshop. In December 2023 the team published an article on the topic, summarising and contextualising the current debate. Recently I have set up an FAQ on AI and RI. You can find further literature on the topic here on our website.

If you have any questions or would like to contribute to the discussion hub with your experience in dealing with research data or on artificial intelligence, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
