Discussion Hubs to Foster Research Integrity
Discussion Hubs to Foster Research Integrity
With this project, we aim to develop and publish guidelines supplementary to the standards of good research practice formulated in the DFG Code of Conduct. You can find a list of publications and presentations here.Rather than developing a new set of standards, the project’s core aim is to translate the existing standards stated in the DFG Code of Conduct into operable guidelines. These will take into account the specifics of the various academic disciplines and, where possible, provide guidance across disciplines. News from the project can be found here.

Organised Events
Workshop day: Challenges of Practical Ombudswork
The team of the Discussion Hubs project, in cooperation with the OWID office, organised a workshop day for people working in the German ombudssystem. The event, which took place on 16th July 2025 in Berlin, addressed the manifold challenges of the practical ombudswork and offered participants a space for exchanging ideas and experiences. The programme consisted of a keynote speech, four parallel workshops and a concluding discussion. A summary report is available in German.
Workshop: Artificial Intelligence and Research Integrity
jportal_jparticle_01340809">In response to the introduction of generative AI as well as its impact on science, we convened an expert panel for a workshop on AI and research integrity on 27th of June 2023. Guided by a set of key questions, the workshop participants discussed what is considered good research practice when using AI and which challenges still need to be addressed from the perspective of research integrity. The workshop resulted in multiple publications (in German) and initiated a more in-depth study of AI guidelines and research integrity, laying the foundation for, among other things, the FAQ on Artificial Intelligence and Research Integrity.
Symposium: Issues in Dealing with Plagiarism
A few days earlier, on 23rd of June 2023, the symposium on pressing issues in dealing with plagiarism in science, organised by Felix Hagenström, former employee of the Discussion Hubs project, took place. The four invited speakers were asked to elaborate from their professional vantage point on the topic at hand with the goal of analysing persistent problems and discussing possible solutions. A report, summarising the content of the four presentations, is available in German.
